About Me
I am a full-time senior, graduating in the spring of 2010 with a degree in finance. I have a particular interest in the investment banking and private equity management areas of the finance industry. For over the past 2 years I have been working full-time at simply Luxury Imports, a boutique style luxury import dealership in Eden Prairie specializing in pre-owned Acura, Audi, BMW, Lexus, Infiniti, and Mercedes-Benz as well as sport bike motorcycles. I assist the owners with inventory management, title work, vehicle registrations, dealership finances and numerous other tasks. I was elected the Financial Vice-President of our Chapter for the fall 2009 through spring 2010 school year as well as chair of Alumni Relations for 2010.
Why I Joined
I was first introduced to Sigma Chi by a good friend and was very surprised at how different the Iota Tau chapter of Sigma Chi was from the stereotypical fraternity portrayed in movies, TV shows etc. I was impressed with the true and genuine brotherhood of the brothers of the Chapter, not only when they were active members during their college life but after they had graduated and become alumni. After learning about the fundamental ideals for which the members of the fraternity sincerely believed in and stood for; friendship, justice and learning, did Sigma Chi begin to have a more significant meaning to me. I ultimately joined for the genuine brotherhood that can’t be found anywhere else and the ideals held by the members of the fraternity. That brotherhood rooted in the principles of friendship, justice and learning allowed the brothers to share common friendships, experiences etc and help each other to grow and become better men of good character.
How Sigma Chi Has Helped Me
Sigma Chi has helped me to grow and improve more than I would have imagined it would. Sigma Chi has helped me embrace the principles of true friendship, justice and learning and apply them to my life and my interactions with others. I have been grateful for the numerous occasions to engage in self-reflection to gauge myself as a man and where I am on the path through life and find areas to improve and better myself as well as the people and world around me. I have several opportunities to also take an active role in the chapter by becoming a member of a committee or chair of a position. This has allowed me to improve my leadership and team work skills while utilizing resources I otherwise would never had through my traditional college career. The standards, brotherhood and memories all the brothers share are unique and have become very beneficial and influential within my life.
